104.7 Rossendale Radio

104.7 Rossendale Radio, based in Haslingden, commenced official broadcasting on 1 May 2010 following a three-year period which saw the group apply and obtain a community radio licence from Ofcom and apply for funding from numerous sources. The radio station broadcasts on 104.7FM to Haslingden, Rawtenstall, Ramsbottom and surrounding areas and online, although there are plans to extend the service to Bacup. The station failed during November 2011 and was placed into liquidation by its owners Agapao. It resumed broadcasting briefly before having its licence revoked by the media regulator Ofcom on 16 April 2012.

Famous quotes containing the word radio:

The radio ... goes on early in the morning and is listened to at all hours of the day, until nine, ten and often eleven o’clock in the evening. This is certainly a sign that the grown-ups have infinite patience, but it also means that the power of absorption of their brains is pretty limited, with exceptions, of course—I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. One or two news bulletins would be ample per day! But the old geese, well—I’ve said my piece!
    Anne Frank (1929–1945)
