Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad Quesada

Roman Catholic Diocese Of Ciudad Quesada

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad Quesada (erected 25 July 1995) is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of San José de Costa Rica, located in the city of Ciudad Quesada (or, more simply, Quesada; alternatively known as San Carlos). Ciudad Quesada is the capital of the District of Ciudad Quesada, and of the larger Canton of San Carlos, which is in turn part of Alajuela Province.

On New Year's Eve, Monday, December 31, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI accepted the resignation of Bishop Oswaldo Brenes Álvarez from the pastoral governance of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ciudad Quesa; there was no immediate replacement, so the Diocese is presently a sede vacante (vacant see).

Famous quotes containing the words roman catholic, roman and/or catholic:

My first childish doubt as to whether God could really be a good Protestant was suggested by my observation of the deplorable fact that the best voices available for combination with my mother’s in the works of the great composers had been unaccountably vouchsafed to Roman Catholics.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

    Uprises there
A mother’s form upon my ken,
Guiding my infant steps, as when
    We walked that ancient, thoroughfare,
    The Roman Road.
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)

I maintain that I have been a Negro three times—a Negro baby, a Negro girl and a Negro woman. Still, if you have received no clear cut impression of what the Negro in America is like, then you are in the same place with me. There is no The Negro here. Our lives are so diversified, internal attitudes so varied, appearances and capabilities so different, that there is no possible classification so catholic that it will cover us all, except My people! My people!
    Zora Neale Hurston (1891–1960)
