Roda de Mundo

Roda de Mundo is a capoeira and Brazilian Dance organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Roda de Mundo has trained and taught classes at various venues in Charlotte including Peak Fitness, the University City YMCA, Eastland Mall and at the Ife Cultural Center.

The group began advertising with local newspapers and is featured in the Charlotte Newspaper "Creative Loafing". In 2008, the group began holding free capoeira classes at the YMCA and at the Ife African Cultural Center, and, one year later, the group began collaboriting with the Brazilian Dance and Culture Association at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The group is loosely affiliated with Mestre Joao Grande, via two of his pupils, Eric "Chicago" Murray and Walee Shabazz. The group has previous affiliations with Chicote of Arte e Movimento based in Boone, North Carolina and with Patrick Deibel from the Academia Aprende Group which holds classes at Queen's College.
