Rockabilly - Neo-Rockabilly (1990-present)

Neo-Rockabilly (1990-present)

While not true rockabilly, many contemporary indie pop, blues-rock and country-rock groups from the US, like Kings of Leon, Black Keys, Blackfoot (band) Prima Donna or the White Stripes, were heavily influenced by rock and roll from the early 1960s, prompting a resurgence of interest in early bands among their younger fans.

Unlike covers bands, contemporary Rockabilly (and rockabilly-influenced) musicians generally write and play their own songs and require a creative talent to be present. Most have a largely underground following but some, like doo-wop singer Bruno Mars, have gained mainstream success.
