After the conviction of the top members in 1988 the family's criminal activity declined. In 1993imprisoned boss Samuel Russotti died. Months later Angelo Amico and Loren Piccarretto were released from prison.
In 1999 and 2000 Capo Tommy Marotta was attempting to make a resurgence of the Rochester family. Marotta was working with two others on a large cocaine trafficking ring, Anthony Leonardo (mob lawyer) and Albert Ranieri. In May of 2000 Leonardo had Ranieri murder his fellow Club Titanic owner Anthony Vaccaro. The FBI had been trying to take down Marotta as soon as he was out of prison by using different informants, however the feds hit a grand slam when they sent in famed mob informant Anthony Delmonti from Cleveland. Delmonti not only took down Marotta, Leonardo and Ranieri on cocaine trafficking and the Vaccaro murder, he also helped solve the 1990 AMSA armored car heist which was worth 11 million. Ranieri a former AMSA employee was responsible.
There has been no further evidence that the Rochester crime family is still active.
