In November 2004, Robinho's mother was kidnapped at gunpoint. She was released without harm in the next month.
In 2009, Robinho married Vivian Guglielmetti. The couple have two sons, Robson Jr., who was born on 17 December 2007 in Santos, and Gianluca, who was born on 20 April 2011 in São Paulo.
In January 2009, Robinho was arrested and bailed following an allegation of serious sexual assault. In April 2009, West Yorkshire Police in England announced that no further action would be taken.
