Robert Gray (accountancy Academic)

Robert Hugh Gray BSc(Econ), M.A.(Econ), FCCA, FCA, PhD, MBE (born c. 1948) is Director of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) at St. Andrews University. He was educated at the University of Hull.

He is best known as the world's most cited author in the academic study of Accounting having contributed hundreds of peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed journal articles and to dozens of books over a twenty-five-year period. His particular speciality is in social and environmental accounting where along with Jan Bebbington he is one of the world's preeminent authorities.

Gray was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2009 Birthday Honours.
