Rising Star Games

Rising Star Games is a video game publisher formed in 2004 as a joint business venture between Scandinavian distributor Bergsala and Japanese video game publisher and content developer Intergrow. The company is based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England while in North America is based on California, USA.

Its focus is to publish titles from Japanese companies for release in European, Australian and North American Markerts markets. So far, the company has published over 90 titles for Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

In late 2007, the company was surrounded with controversy over what appeared to be its decision to censor the European version of No More Heroes, though it was later revealed that the decision was made by its parent company and the developer Grasshopper Manufacture to release the censored version in Europe unlike what was released in North America and Japan.

In 2012, it was announced that they will open the Rising Star Games USA, where they will publish the North American releases.

Famous quotes containing the words rising, star and/or games:

The bourgeoisie and the petty bourgeoisie have armed themselves against the rising proletariat with, among other things, “culture.” It’s an old ploy of the bourgeoisie. They keep a standing “art” to defend their collapsing culture.

The flame from the angel’s sword in the garden of Eden has been catalysed into the atom bomb; God’s thunderbolt became blunted, so man’s dunderbolt has become the steel star of destruction.
    Sean O’Casey (1884–1964)

Intelligence and war are games, perhaps the only meaningful games left. If any player becomes too proficient, the game is threatened with termination.
    William Burroughs (b. 1914)
