Rishtey (season 1) - Episode List

The episode focuses on the life of a vicious club singer Anjali who is the sole breadwinner of her family. She had supported her father, brother, and boyfriend only to realize that she has been exploited all the while by them. What about her dreams and aspirations? Who will support her in her distress?

A bunch of youngsters is on a trip during their college vacation. They are unable to find a suitable accommodation but a kind gentle man, Mr. Khadke helps them. He is the caretaker of a huge house owned by Mr. Anil Chaudhary. Anil is a loner by nature, lives in Mauritius, and rarely visits India. The youngsters are happy to be in the bungalow but their happiness is short lived. Anil turns up at the bungalow and is not happy with the bunch and Khadke. The teenagers plead with him to let them stay on for a day. He agrees but their cheerful, carefree attitude irks him. Anil is forcibly engaged to a girl of his father's choice. He is not happy in his life and is always irritated and hot tempered. The youths change his life forever. He desires to be like them so he speaks his mind out for a first time and breaks off the engagement. He also shows his interest in one of the youths, Sheetal, who reciprocates his wishes.

This episodes is based on the life of a 15 years girl, Ashu who is deeply attached to her father, Brijesh. One day she comes across a diary in which Brijesh professes his love to another woman. Ashu is heartbroken and distances herself from her father. Brijesh is unable to understand her behavior and is disturbed. He goes out of the city for a few days. In his absence, Ashu tearfully discloses to her mother about her fathers secret affair. To her amazement, her mother admonishes her for reading her father's personal diary. Ashu realizes that her mother is aware of all the facts. She is amazed at the way her parents have reacted to a bizarre situation in their lives. She realizes her folly and eagerly awaits her father's return.

Shah and his wife is a middle-aged childless couple. Both long for a child to carry on the family name. His wife herself arranges for his marriage to a young girl to beget a child. Now Shah lives with his two wives, 'Badi' and 'Chhoti'. Shah is a very good man and gives equal respect and love to both his wives. Finally, one day Chhoti is pregnant and there is celebration in the house. Shah and Badi take great care of Chhoti. Chhoti requests them to send her to her parents' house for the delivery. Shah agrees on the condition that Badi goes with her. When the child is born, Badi is very happy but her happiness is short-lived as Chhoti tells her that Shah is not the father of the baby.

Chaddi is a poor 12 years old orphan boy who earns his living by singing in trains. He lives on the streets and Rafiq Chacha, a street stall vendor acts as his guardian. Chaddi takes care of her like an elder brother and sends her to school, run by a missionary. One fine day a couple turns up at the missionary and wishes to adopt Mili. Will Mili be adopted? Anil and Aparna is a married couple with a five-year-old kid. Their marriage of seven years is on the rocks, as they cannot see eye to eye with each other anymore. Anil's brother and his wife however advise them to stay apart but in the same house. They agree and distribute the chores between themselves. The separation has brought along many changes in them. The biggest change is that they see each other in a different light.

Gopal a middle class government schoolteacher has one big dream in life, to own his own car. His wife too shares this dream with him. Gopal saves money to buy the car but after months of saving, he is still short of Rs. 30,000/- which his wife says that she will borrow from her sister. Finally, Gopal owns his own car. However, his happiness is short lived when one day his car is stolen. An atmosphere of grief grips the house. Gopal complains to the Police and keeps on following up with them but in vain. Finally, after 6 months Gopal gets back his car. Then starts Gopals rounds to the court to get the culprit punished, however the case keeps on dragging and nothing comes out of it. Finally fed up, Gopal sells off the car.

A couple leaves their young son, Raju, home alone on Diwali night. They are out to party and drink as they feel that it is the best way to celebrate Diwali. They leave Raju alone with their servant Ramu. Ramu too gets drunk, as it is Diwali night. Raju is drunk and scared but a thief passing by comes to his rescue. A bond of friendship develops between them. The thief, though poor, teaches the true values of Diwali to Raju. Raju's parents come back home and are shocked to find him in the company of the thief. A change overcomes the entire household and Raju's parents realize their mistake.

Bunny, a young boy is convalescing in the hospital and is always in a foul mood. One day he finds a roommate, also convalescing, named Bugs in his room. They spend a few days together, during which Bugs takes the aid of a small lie, in infusing determination and the will to live in a depressed Bunny. When Bunny realizes that it was a lie he is cross with Bugs. He vows to end their friendship. The doctor tells him that Bugs is suffering from a major life threatening illness. Bunny finds this piece of news hard to digest.

Rahul and Pooja are a married couple and very much in love with each other. Pooja worships Rahul and longs for him whenever he goes out of town for work. He adores children. Rahuls’ attitude changes towards Pooja and eventually they get divorced. They both remarry and meet after four years in a catamaran. Rahul is a young boy, around ten years of age, is a cancer patient. His father, Dilip is a struggling actor. His mother Mohini separated from them, as she could no longer bear his father's failures in life. Rahul and Dilip were always short of money but were happy with each other. Rahul longed for a costly music system. Dilip promised to get it for him. They both saved some money but it was spent in Rahul's treatment as he fell very ill. Dilip is not able to buy the system but Rahul still loves his father, as he is his Hero.

This is a poignant tale about a eunuch, Ram Kali. Her family disowned her due to social pressure. She loves her younger brother but is unable to be in touch with him. She earns pretty well as the city is full of people who believe in giving alms to eunuchs to earn their blessings. She knows many influential people. She comes across Rohit, who is a disillusioned youth. Rohit had come to Mumbai with dreams of becoming a film star, but had failed. She takes over the guardianship of Rohit, guides, and helps him. He becomes a star. However, he is ashamed to let people know that he knows her and completely ignores her presence. She is heartbroken.

Rajjat is a competent and efficient physiatrist. He plans to settle in a small town, and joins the government run mental hospital of that town. He finds the doctors working there to be too carefree and casual in nature. He comes across a patient, Bhushan, who seems well enough to be termed as a mentally sick patient. However, Bhushan refuses to step out into the real world as he finds it to be full of liars. Rajjat strikes a friendship with Bhushan and within a few days, the other doctors in the hospital realize that Rajjat too is mentally unwell.

Rashmi is a handicapped girl who runs her own gift shop. Young Abhishek, who is working with her friend Farha, befriends her. Rashmi falls in love with him. Kirti is a girl from a traditional family. She gets an interesting marriage proposal from a boy called Avinash. They add that no one ever returned after dumping unwanted family members in that old age home. Sylvia develops a love-hate relationship Avinash Joshi who is one of the inmates. Avinash used to be a superstar in his hey day, but now, no one cares for him. Both miss companionship and find solace in each other's grief.

Swasthi is frustrated at being refused jobs repeatedly. Despite being brilliant at academics, she has been unable to garner a good job as most of them are given to applicants recommended by people with influence. Swasthi's father is teacher of repute and knows many people who matter. However, when Swasthi asks him to recommend her for a job, he refuses, saying that it was against his principles in life. Swasthi is disappointed but keeps appearing for countless job interviews.

Five people, who are strangers to each other, get stuck in an elevator. Ravi, Saakshi, Roshan and Anu are all people dealing with their own individual problems at that point in their lives. The fifth person, an old man who claims to have been a liftman in his youth, imparts words of wisdom to them which prove very valuable to the them. Soon, the group is rescued from the elevator. In a haste to get out, the foursome forgets to enquire about the identity of their saviour, their well-wisher. Who was this well-wisher?

Vijay is moved by an advertisement he reads in the papers. Gangadevi, a poor, old widow is offering a reward of one lakh rupees to anyone who can get her innocent son, Ram, freed from jail. The widow has suffered a lot in raising the amount single-handedly. Ram’s wife Ratna deserted Gangadevi soon after Ram was jailed on a murder charge. Vijay is able to prove Ram’s innocence and Ram returns home. Ratna, too, comes back with her little son, Krishna. However, Gangadevi’s hopes for a happy reunion with her family are dashed to the ground when Ratna provokes Ram to leave her at a home for the aged. Krishna then teaches Ratna a lesson which makes her realise the folly of her ways.

Jacob and Jennifer are an NRI couple which visits India once every year. On one such visit, they happen meet 10-year-old Bunty who hails from a poor family and aims to be an armyman like his father.
