Remote Area Nurse

A Remote Area Nurse serves as a primary health care worker (nurse) in remote areas of Australia, where population density and remoteness precludes the provision of permanent doctors.

The RAN can call on medical help from the established hospital system or the Flying Doctor Service.

Famous quotes containing the words remote, area and/or nurse:

Space isn’t remote at all. It’s only an hour’s drive away if your car could go straight upwards.
    Fred, Sir Hoyle (b. 1915)

Many women are reluctant to allow men to enter their domain. They don’t want men to acquire skills in what has traditionally been their area of competence and one of their main sources of self-esteem. So while they complain about the male’s unwillingness to share in domestic duties, they continually push the male out when he moves too confidently into what has previously been their exclusive world.
    Bettina Arndt (20th century)

Then England’s ground, farewell. Sweet soil, adieu,
My mother and my nurse that bears me yet!
Where e’er I wander, boast of this I can:
Though banished, yet a true-born Englishman.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
