Rejected - Story

Story

A fictional frame story explains that Don Hertzfeldt was commissioned to do animated segments for commercials and television network interstitals, but they were all rejected upon receipt. It is a collection of short, surreal vignettes, presented as a reel of rejected corporate advertising work. Towards the end of the short the animator begins to break down mentally and the animated world he created literally begins to fall apart, brutally killing all of his characters in the process.

Famous quotes containing the word story:

When a book, any sort of book, reaches a certain intensity of artistic performance it becomes literature. That intensity may be a matter of style, situation, character, emotional tone, or idea, or half a dozen other things. It may also be a perfection of control over the movement of a story similar to the control a great pitcher has over the ball.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

The psychiatrist’s office: the only place I can be sure my story will be treated as sad, but interesting.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

The liar at any rate recognizes that recreation, not instruction, is the aim of conversation, and is a far more civilised being than the blockhead who loudly expresses his disbelief in a story which is told simply for the amusement of the company.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
