Red Hat Certification Program

The Red Hat Certification Program are IT Professional certifications for Red Hat products and general Linux related skills such as system administration on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

All certifications are given after passing exams. The program distinguishes itself in that the exams are performance-based, meaning that students must perform tasks on a live system, rather than answering multiple choice questions.

The program was launched in January 1999. As of 2010, there are nearly 75,000 Red Hat certified professionals spanning 162 countries. GoCertify considers it "the most prominent Linux certification programs".

Famous quotes containing the words red, hat and/or program:

To motorists bound to or from the Jersey shore, Perth Amboy consists of five traffic lights that sometimes tie up week-end traffic for miles. While cars creep along or come to a prolonged halt, drivers lean out to discuss with each other this red menace to freedom of the road.
—For the State of New Jersey, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Jargon is the verbal sleight of hand that makes the old hat seem newly fashionable; it gives an air of novelty and specious profundity to ideas that, if stated directly, would seem superficial, stale, frivolous, or false. The line between serious and spurious scholarship is an easy one to blur, with jargon on your side.
    David Lehman (b. 1948)

The twelve Cells for Incorrigibles ... are also carved out of the solid rock hill. On the walls of one of the cells human “liberty” is clearly inscribed, with the “liberty” in significant quotation marks.
