Reactive Centrifugal Force

In classical mechanics, reactive centrifugal force is the reaction paired with centripetal force. A mass undergoing circular motion constantly accelerates toward the axis of rotation. This centripetal acceleration is caused by a force exerted on the mass by some other object. In accordance with Newton's third law of motion, the mass exerts an equal and opposite force on the object. This reactive force is directed away from the center of rotation, and is exerted by the rotating mass on the object that originates the centripetal acceleration.

The concept of reactive centrifugal force is seldom used in modern physics and mechanics, having been largely supplanted by the concept of centrifugal force as a fictitious force in a rotating reference frame; see History of conceptions of centrifugal and centripetal forces.
