Ranebennuru - History

History

Popularly known as the "Gateway to North Karnataka", the city's name is derived from the term Rani-bennuru, literally meaning queen's resting place. From the late 17th century onwards, the city was a part of the Regency of Bombay until the independence of India in 1947, when Bombay merged into the Republic of India.
