The Ram's Head Device or Military Mountaineer Badge is a military special skill badge of the U.S. Army National Guard. The Ram's Head Device is awarded to any soldier after completion of the U.S. Army Mountain Warfare School, based at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vermont. The badge is authorized for wear on the uniform of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont National Guard soldiers --these states have units that are aligned with the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain)-- but is widely worn unofficially by other graduates of the Mountain Warfare School.

Famous quotes containing the words ram, head and/or device:
“At one time or another, almost every politician needs an honest man so badly that, like a ravenous wolf, he breaks into a sheep-fold: not to devour the ram he has stolen, however, but rather to conceal himself behind its wooly back.”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
“A sparrow enters the tree,
Whereon immediately
A snow lump thrice his own slight size
Descends on him and showers his head and eyes,
And overturns him,”
—Thomas Hardy (18401928)
“One good reason for the popularity of reductionism among the philosophical outposts of the Western Establishment is that it can be, and is, used as a device for trying to take the wind, so to speak, out of the sails of Marxism.... In essence reductionism is a kind of anti-Marxist caricature of Marxist determinism. It is what anti-Marxists pretend that Marxist determinism is.”
—Claud Cockburn (19041981)
