Raja Sikander Zaman

Raja Sikandar Zaman Khan (late), was the grandson of a prominent Gakhars Chief H.H Sultan Khan Bahadur Raja Jahandad Khan who was the son in law of the King of Afghanistan. Raja Sikander Zaman was also the uncle of present Gakhars Chief Raja Erij Zaman Khan. He was born in Khanpur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His father H.H Sultan Capt. Raja Haider Zaman Khan(MBE 1938, CIE 1924, OBI 1937, IOM 1915, RRF 1887 Diamond Delhi Durbar Medal 1911, King George Silver Jubilee Medal 1935, Kaisar-i-Hind gold, silver and bronze medal, George Cross and the Order of Star of India) took part in active politics and was known for his Orders, Decorations and Medals. His son was called Raja Goerge Sikander Zaman and was given this name by King George V himself. He received his early education from Burn Hall School in Abbottabad and Aligarh University.

Raja Goerge Sikander Zaman was a veteran politician and started his political career as Member of the Abbottabad District Council in the 1950s,and during a long political career of 50 years,he served as Minister,Senior Minister,Chief Minister of North-West Frontier Province (now KPK) Fedral Minister of Pakistan and opposition leader in the NWFP Assembly for a long time. He has a record of bieng appointed Fedral Minister in almost every government during his long active political career.
