Team Organization
Like many other Fairfax County middle schools, Rachel Carson is divided into ten "teams", which are very similar to the idea of high school sub-schools. The teams are as follows:
- 7th grade
- A - All-Stars (AAP)
- B - Trailblazers (AAP)
- C - Champions (AAP)
- D - Dream Team
- E - Explorers
- 8th grade
- V - Voyagers
- W - Wolves
- X - X-Treme Team (AAP)
- Y - Yellow Jackets (AAP)
- Z - Dolphins (AAP)
Each team has its own set of locker pods and core classrooms (Science, English, History/Civics, and Mathematics), and students usually attend classes within their team. However, in many cases, students are assigned teachers in other pods, especially in the case of math, where the courses that students take vary widely.

Famous quotes containing the words team and/or organization:
“Theyre two good old friends of mine. I call them Constitution and The Bill of Rights. A most dependable team for long journeys. Then Ive got another one called Missouri Compromise. And a Supreme Courta fine, dignified horse, though you have to push him on every now and then.”
—Dan Totheroh (18951976)
“The methods by which a trade union can alone act, are necessarily destructive; its organization is necessarily tyrannical.”
—Henry George (18391897)
