In the United States, the FDA has approved quetiapine for the short term treatment of schizophrenia and of acute manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder (bipolar mania) and for treatment of bipolar depression.

Quetiapine is also used off-label for aggression, Alzheimer’s disease, anger management, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar maintenance, dementia, depression, mood disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and sleeplessness, though AstraZeneca was penalized for promoting such uses in US.
