Pulau Bunting Bridge - History

History

It was constructed between 2002 and 2005. During the construction, many fisherman lost their livelihoods due to the machinery used for the project which prevented them from catching fish around Pulau Bunting.

The bridge is now remains underused since it became a white elephant and has been widely criticised for the facts that it had served no purpose of linking to an unpopulated island which incurred a project cost of RM 7 billion. This bridge, funded by the tax payers' money, is considered by locals as a waste of money.

Disenchantment of the locals remains unknown to the rest of the country.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

the future is simply nothing at all. Nothing has happened to the present by becoming past except that fresh slices of existence have been added to the total history of the world. The past is thus as real as the present.
    Charlie Dunbar Broad (1887–1971)

Every member of the family of the future will be a producer of some kind and in some degree. The only one who will have the right of exemption will be the mother ...
Ruth C. D. Havens, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 13, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)

[Men say:] “Don’t you know that we are your natural protectors?” But what is a woman afraid of on a lonely road after dark? The bears and wolves are all gone; there is nothing to be afraid of now but our natural protectors.
Frances A. Griffin, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 19, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)
