Puerto Rico Public Service Commission

The Puerto Rico Public Service Commission is one of Puerto Rico's oldest regulatory bodies whose jurisdiction has changed over the years.

The PSC currently regulates the retail sale of natural gas, used primarily for cooking in Puerto Rico. It also regulates trucking and "público" cars, or jitneys, among other regulatory functions.

Adolfo L. Monserrate Anselmi served at one time as Associate Commissioner along with Rafael Hernández Colón.

The multi-member PSC was headed by Roberto Maldonado until December 31, 2008. Governor Luis Fortuño appointed María T. Fullana as chairwoman of the PSC on January 4, 2009.

Famous quotes containing the words public, service and/or commission:

The energy, the brutality, the scale, the contrast, the tension, the rapid change—and the permanent congestion—are what the New Yorker misses when he leaves the city.
In New York City, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

His character as one of the fathers of the English language would alone make his works important, even those which have little poetical merit. He was as simple as Wordsworth in preferring his homely but vigorous Saxon tongue, when it was neglected by the court, and had not yet attained to the dignity of a literature, and rendered a similar service to his country to that which Dante rendered to Italy.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that mental lying has produced in society. When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime.
    Thomas Paine (1737–1809)
