Prime Minister of Belgium

Prime Minister Of Belgium

The Prime Minister of Belgium (Dutch: Eerste Minister; French: Premier Ministre; German: Premierminister) is the head of the federal government in the Kingdom of Belgium.

Although Leaders of Government (French: Chefs de Cabinet) had been appointed since the independence of the country, until 1918 the King often presided over the Council of Ministers, so the modern era of the "Premiership" started after World War I with Léon Delacroix. The political importance of the King of Belgium has decreased over time, whereas the position of Prime Minister has gradually become more important.

Famous quotes containing the words prime and/or minister:

One wants in a Prime Minister a good many things, but not very great things. He should be clever but need not be a genius; he should be conscientious but by no means strait-laced; he should be cautious but never timid, bold but never venturesome; he should have a good digestion, genial manners, and, above all, a thick skin.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

But, my dear, you cannot live in isolation from the human race, you know.
John Clifford, U.S. screenwriter, and Herk Harvey. Minister (Stan Levitt)
