Background
This event featured the opening round of the Pride 2006 Bushido Welterweight (83 kg) Grand Prix. The winning tournament participants advanced to the second round, which was held at Pride Bushido 12 on August 26th. In addition, four non-tournament matches were held. Gregory Bouchelaghem was a late replacement for Paulo Filho’s original opponent, Dong Sik Yoon.
