Pre-emphasis Network

In telecommunication, a pre-emphasis network is a network inserted in a system in order to increase the magnitude of one range of frequencies with respect to another.

Pre-emphasis is usually employed in frequency modulation or phase modulation transmitters to equalize the modulating signal drive power in terms of deviation ratio. The receiver demodulation process includes a reciprocal network, called a de-emphasis network, to restore the original signal power distribution.

Famous quotes containing the word network:

Of what use, however, is a general certainty that an insect will not walk with his head hindmost, when what you need to know is the play of inward stimulus that sends him hither and thither in a network of possible paths?
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
