Power Grid Corporation of India - Development of Transmission System For Independent Power Producers

Development of Transmission System For Independent Power Producers

In order to meet the growing power demand of the country, Government of India has envisaged Capacity Addition through private sector participation and a number of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are setting up, or plan to set up, power generation plants of different capacity with various time schedules in the country. These power generation plants are mainly coming up in resource rich states, i.e. Odisha, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh etc. and the power generated is required to be transmitted to load centres across the States and Regions.

Being the nodal agency for grant of Long Term Access (LTA) to private producers, the Company has undertaken development of high capacity transmission corridors for evacuation of large quantum of power from various IPP projects.

In order to evolve an economical transmission system to transfer such large quantum of power across long distances, 11 Nos. High Capacity Power Transmission Corridors have been planned and approved by CERC. Implementation of these corridors has been taken up by the Company in a phased manner matching with progress of generation projects. This shall go a long way in integrated development of transmission system in the country.

Famous quotes containing the words development of, development, system, independent, power and/or producers:

And then ... he flung open the door of my compartment, and ushered in “Ma young and lovely lady!” I muttered to myself with some bitterness. “And this is, of course, the opening scene of Vol. I. She is the Heroine. And I am one of those subordinate characters that only turn up when needed for the development of her destiny, and whose final appearance is outside the church, waiting to greet the Happy Pair!”
Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898)

Other nations have tried to check ... the fulfillment of our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions.
    John Louis O’Sullivan (1813–1895)

The violent illiteracies of the graffiti, the clenched silence of the adolescent, the nonsense cries from the stage-happening, are resolutely strategic. The insurgent and the freak-out have broken off discourse with a cultural system which they despise as a cruel, antiquated fraud. They will not bandy words with it. Accept, even momentarily, the conventions of literate linguistic exchange, and you are caught in the net of the old values, of the grammars that can condescend or enslave.
    George Steiner (b. 1929)

I have an intense personal interest in making the use of American capital in the development of China an instrument for the promotion of the welfare of China, and an increase in her material prosperity without entanglements or creating embarrassment affecting the growth of her independent political power, and the preservation of her territorial integrity.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

It is in this power of saying everything, and yet saying nothing too plainly, that the perfection of art ... consists.
    John Ruskin (1819–1900)

When producers want to know what the public wants, they graph it as curves. When they want to tell the public what to get, they say it in curves.
    Marshall McLuhan (1911–1980)
