Polyphenol Antioxidant - Potential Biological Consequences

Potential Biological Consequences

Consuming dietary polyphenols may be associated with effects in higher animal species:

  • Possible reduction in inflammation such as in coronary artery disease including specific research on endothelial cells via downregulation of oxidative LDL.
  • Other possible effects may result from consumption of foods rich in polyphenols, but are not yet proved scientifically in humans so are not allowed as health statements by regulatory authorities like the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Among these are possible anti-aging effects in skin. Further research may discern if polyphenol antioxidants have biological roles in vivo.

Famous quotes containing the words potential, biological and/or consequences:

Much of what contrives to create critical moments in parenting stems from a fundamental misunderstanding as to what the child is capable of at any given age. If a parent misjudges a child’s limitations as well as his own abilities, the potential exists for unreasonable expectations, frustration, disappointment and an unrealistic belief that what the child really needs is to be punished.
    Lawrence Balter (20th century)

Man’s biological weakness is the condition of human culture.
    Erich Fromm (1900–1980)

There is a delicate balance of putting yourself last and not being a doormat and thinking of yourself first and not coming off as selfish, arrogant, or bossy. We spend the majority of our lives attempting to perfect this balance. When we are successful, we have many close, healthy relationships. When we are unsuccessful, we suffer the natural consequences of damaged and sometimes broken relationships. Children are just beginning their journey on this important life lesson.
