Planning Acts - Scotland

Scotland

The Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 is the principal Act which governs planning in Scotland. It is supported by various other pieces of primary and secondary legislation, including: Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (Scotland) Act 1997 and the Planning (Hazardous Substances) (Scotland) Act 1997.

More recently, the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006 was passed by the Scottish Parliament. This Act paves the way for significant planning reform in Scotland. The 2006 Act does not replace the 1997 Act; however does modify and amend many of its provisions.
