Pittsburgh City Paper

The Pittsburgh City Paper is Pittsburgh's leading alternative weekly newspaper which focuses on local news, opinion, and arts and entertainment. It bought out In Pittsburgh Weekly in 2001.

The Pittsburgh City Paper is a free publication and is distributed in most neighborhoods throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area every Wednesday, with about 70,000 copies printed weekly.

The City Paper was originally based in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, and the paper is in its nineteenth year of print. Like most alternative weeklies, the publication tends toward a left-wing viewpoint. Pittsburgh City Paper's slogan is "All Paper, No Plastic."

The Pittsburgh City Paper is independently and locally owned by Steel City Media, and has no business relationship with other City Papers found in other cities such as the Washington City Paper and Philadelphia City Paper.

Famous quotes containing the words pittsburgh, city and/or paper:

The largest business in American handled by a woman is the Money Order Department of the Pittsburgh Post-office; Mary Steel has it in charge.
    Lydia Hoyt Farmer (1842–1903)

Today, San Francisco has experienced a double tragedy of incredible proportions. As acting mayor, I order an immediate state of mourning in our city. The city and county of San Francisco must and will pull itself together at this time. We will carry on as best as we possibly can.... I think we all have to share the same sense of shame and the same sense of outrage.
    Dianne Feinstein (b. 1933)

I blame the newspapers because every day they call our attention to insignificant things, while three or four times in our lives, we read books that contain essential things. Once we feverishly tear the band of paper enclosing our newspapers, things should change and we should find—I do not know—the Pensées by Pascal!
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)
