Famous quotes containing the words the end of, the end, car, production and/or operations:

Whist Partner: Great Caesar’s Ghost. A woman! In the Club.
Phileas Fogg: My dear, I must ask you to leave these precincts at once. No woman has ever set foot in the Club.
    Aouda: Why not?
Phileas Fogg: Because that could spell the end of the British Empire.
    James Poe (1921–1980)

Practically everyone now bemoans Western man’s sense of alienation, lack of community, and inability to find ways of organizing society for human ends. We have reached the end of the road that is built on the set of traits held out for male identity—advance at any cost, pay any price, drive out all competitors, and kill them if necessary.
    Jean Baker Miller (20th century)

The car has become the carapace, the protective and aggressive shell, of urban and suburban man.
    Marshall McLuhan (1911–1980)

The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)

A sociosphere of contact, control, persuasion and dissuasion, of exhibitions of inhibitions in massive or homeopathic doses...: this is obscenity. All structures turned inside out and exhibited, all operations rendered visible. In America this goes all the way from the bewildering network of aerial telephone and electric wires ... to the concrete multiplication of all the bodily functions in the home, the litany of ingredients on the tiniest can of food, the exhibition of income or IQ.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
