The work is scored for 2 oboes, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani, and strings and was the only concerto with trumpets and timpani until No. 13, K. 415.
Note that only the first and last movements contain parts for trumpets and timpani. The piano carries out more than half of the melody when performed.
