Appearance
Percy has been described as a tall young man with untamed jet-black hair and bright sea green eyes. His hair had a streak of gray in it from holding the sky to save Annabeth in The Titan's Curse, but this disappears sometime during his disappearance throughout The Lost Hero. He gets these appearance traits from his father. Multiple female characters in the series have called him attractive because of his boyish charm and cool personality.
While Percy starts the series below average in athletics, he becomes fit and muscular during the course of his training at Camp Half-Blood. After slaying the giant Polybotes, Percy receives a tattoo of a trident and the letters SPQR on the underside of his arm, signifying that he is a full member of the Twelfth Legion Fulminata.

Famous quotes containing the word appearance:
“The aim of science is to apprehend this purely intelligible world as a thing in itself, an object which is what it is independently of all thinking, and thus antithetical to the sensible world.... The world of thought is the universal, the timeless and spaceless, the absolutely necessary, whereas the world of sense is the contingent, the changing and moving appearance which somehow indicates or symbolizes it.”
—R.G. (Robin George)
“The complaint ... about modern steel furniture, modern glass houses, modern red bars and modern streamlined trains and cars is that all these objets modernes, while adequate and amusing in themselves, tend to make the people who use them look dated. It is an honest criticism. The human race has done nothing much about changing its own appearance to conform to the form and texture of its appurtenances.”
—E.B. (Elwyn Brooks)
“Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
—Benjamin Franklin (17061790)
