The Penguin News is the only newspaper produced within the Falkland Islands. It is published every Friday and provides news and features about the Islands. The staff consists of the Managing Editor, Deputy Editor, Journalist and Office Manager, who produce a twenty page, part colour publication. The paper is respected locally for its traditionally combative editorial approach towards the policies of the Falkland Islands Government. The current Managing Editor is sixth generation Falkland Islander Lisa Watson. The Manager reports directly to the Falkland Islands Media Trust. The newspaper made headlines internationally when it appeared to call the Argentine President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, a "bitch"; Penguin News's online site had an image of Kirchner with a default file name as "bitch.jpg". Editor Lisa Watson blamed the incident on a colleague with "dry humour".
