Pandan Primary School - History

History

The Public works Department handed Pandan Primary School to the Ministry of Education on Monday 15 December 1980. The school started functioning from Friday 2 January 1981 with an enrolment of approximately 1900 pupils coming from about 45 schools from around the island. There were about 60 staff. Miss Lim Bie Luan was the first Principal.

The school, officially opened on 16 July 1982, was built at a cost of 2.5 million dollars inclusive of furniture and equipment. It commanded a scenic view of the Pandan Reservoir. The building, which was rectangular in shape, was three storeys high with 27 classrooms, six special rooms, a dental clinic, sick bays for boys and girls, a staff room, a general office and a Principal's office.

The school ended its operation in December 2007, as it merged with Fuhua Primary School in 2008.

Racism is an ism to which everyone in the world today is exposed; for or against, we must take sides. And the history of the future will differ according to the decision which we make.
    Ruth Benedict (1887–1948)

All things are moral. That soul, which within us is a sentiment, outside of us is a law. We feel its inspiration; out there in history we can see its fatal strength.
