Pan-European University - International Cooperation

International Cooperation

The orientation of the Pan-European University abides by the fundamental and basic principles, in which the international scene plays a dominant role. Slovakia is a component part of the EU, the University has therefore become very strong in co-operation, integration, exchange of information, pedagogues and students. Without acceleration in the area of international co-operation is it hardly possible to step into the future. From the very beginning of its existence, the Pan-European University has ascribed priority to international relations; the fact that approximately 30 per cent of all lecturers are from abroad proves the international character of its staff.

The contacts with partner universities on the basis of the pedagogical co-operation open a new dimension for the University, particularly the possibilities of joint activities with the partners in the area of science and research (in the form of shared research projects), drafting of joint academic programmes, publications, discussion forums for exchange of experience in the form of international conferences, colloquia, or summer schools.

Since 2007, in co-operation with the University in Vienna and 12 other European universities and research institutions, the Pan-European University has been taking part in the activities of the international summer school project called NICLAS („New International Constitutional Law & Administrative Studies Summer School“). These steps are connected with the gradual development of the central idea of the “Twin-City” project, which is to enhance co-operation of the capital cities of the Slovak republic and Austria – Bratislava and Vienna – also on the academic level. The outcome of this is the co-operation between the Pan-European University and the University in Vienna.

Apart from expanding co-operation with partner universities across Europe (being active in the Lifelong Learning Programme / ERASMUS initiative of the European Union), the first intensive steps for concluding cooperation agreements with partners outside Europe have taken place. The Pan-European University continues this activity with the aim to embark on further partnerships with universities in South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia, however not limiting its scope towards these regions only.

On the basis of its participation in the ERASMUS programme, in 2005, the Pan-European University gained membership in an association of universities called ELPIS („European Legal Programme of Integrated Studies“). The instigator and organiser of this association is the Leibniz University Hannover.

Famous quotes containing the word cooperation:

Psychoanalysis is an attempt to examine a person’s self-justifications. Hence it can be undertaken only with the patient’s cooperation and can succeed only when the patient has something to gain by abandoning or modifying his system of self-justification.
    Thomas Szasz (b. 1920)
