Page 3 Idol Modeling Contest

Since 2002, the Sun has run an approximately annual contest called "Page 3 Idol" that gives amateur models an opportunity to compete for a prize that includes a Page Three modelling contract. Women with natural breasts, aged 18 or older, can submit their topless pictures, which are published on the Page Three website and voted on by the public. The winners of the contest to date have been Nicola Tappenden (2002), Krystle Gohel (2003), Keeley Hazell (2004), Freya Haseldine (2006), Sam Cooke (2007), Jenny Grant (2008), Kelly Hall (2009), Lacey Banghard (2010), Lucy Collett (2011), and Mellisa Clarke (2012). The 2008 Page 3 Idol winner, university student Jenny Grant, committed suicide in the early hours of 13 September 2008 at the age of 19.

Famous quotes containing the words page, idol, modeling and/or contest:

A book is like a man—clever and dull, brave and cowardly, beautiful and ugly. For every flowering thought there will be a page like a wet and mangy mongrel, and for every looping flight a tap on the wing and a reminder that wax cannot hold the feathers firm too near the sun.
    John Steinbeck (1902–1968)

Your mock saint who stands in a niche is not a woman if she have not suffered, still less a woman if she have not sinned. Fall at the feet of your idol as you wish, but drag her down to your level after that—the only level she should ever reach, that of your heart.
    Emmuska, Baroness Orczy (1865–1947)

The computer takes up where psychoanalysis left off. It takes the ideas of a decentered self and makes it more concrete by modeling mind as a multiprocessing machine.
    Sherry Turkle (b. 1948)

Another danger is imminent: A contested result. And we have no such means for its decision as ought to be provided by law. This must be attended to hereafter.... If a contest comes now it may lead to a conflict of arms. I can only try to do my duty to my countrymen in that case. I shall let no personal ambition turn me from the path of duty. Bloodshed and civil war must be averted if possible. If forced to fight, I have no fears from lack of courage or firmness.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
