Page The Village Idiot

Page the Village Idiot (born 1966) is a Phoenix, Arizona singer-songwriter and satirist. He has released three studio albums and one live compilation. His music industry-critical pop music parody, “This Song Sucks,” was nominated by Red Peters for Song of the Year 2007. PTVI’s “Dead Rockstars” has been featured on the Dr. Demento Show.

Notable for his satire of Phoenix-area political figures (Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio) and social issues (methamphetamine addiction, racism, and consumerism), PTVI also targets pop culture personalities (Nancy Kerrigan), international figures (Osama Bin Laden) and various subcultural phenomena (teenage plastic surgery, the Kiss Army).

A one-man act, Page the Village Idiot uses guitar, ukulele, a Roland MC-303 and bass pedals to parody diverse musical styles, including rockabilly, blues, electronica, industrial, punk, hip hop, metal, pop and folk.

"Incongruent"-ly, Page the Village Idiot holds a B.A. (English) from Arizona State University and an M.S. (Information Science) from the University of Arizona.

Famous quotes containing the words page, village and/or idiot:

    I asked myself, “Is it going to prevent me from getting out of here? Is there a risk of death attached to it? Is it permanently disabling? Is it permanently disfiguring? Lastly, is it excruciating?” If it doesn’t fit one of those five categories, then it isn’t important.
    Rhonda Cornum, United States Army Major. As quoted in Newsweek magazine, “Perspectives” page (July 13, 1992)

    Whose woods these are I think I know.
    His house is in the village though;
    He will not see me stopping here
    To watch his woods fill up with snow.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

    The idiot who praises, with enthusiastic tone,
    All centuries but this, and every country but his own.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)
