Pacific Crest Drum And Bugle Corps
Pacific Crest Youth Arts Organization (PCYAO) is a non-profit music education organization that has provided several performance outlets for youth in the Southern California area. Pacific Crest is a World Class (formerly Division I) drum and bugle corps that competes in Drum Corps International. Pacific Crest was created in 1993 and marched only 33 members their first season. The corps continued to grow throughout the next ten years, and in 2003 the corps took their first extended tour to DCI World Championships. This tour allowed first-time viewers of the corps to witness the group’s presence in Division I Semifinals, a feat that caught many other corps by surprise. At four weeks long, the corps’ 2007 tour was the longest in corps history where they again made it to Semifinals. With the success of 2007, Pacific Crest expanded their tour to a 25 day tour in 2008.
In addition to the drum corps, PCYAO has supported a Colorguard unit that competed in Winter Guard International and the Winter Guard Association of Southern California (WGASC) circuits and a snare camp that coincided with the Corps At The Crest show in 2009. Major fundraising events include the Pacific Crest Sneak Preview show held at the beginning of Summer as well as the Pacific Crest golf tournament held in the Fall.

Famous quotes containing the words pacific, crest, drum, bugle and/or corps:
“Really, there is no infidelity, nowadays, so great as that which prays, and keeps the Sabbath, and rebuilds the churches. The sealer of the South Pacific preaches a truer doctrine.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“What shall he have that killed the deer?
His leather skin and horns to wear.
Then sing him home.
Take thou no scorn to wear the horn,
It was a crest ere thou wast born;
Thy fathers father wore it,
And thy father bore it.
The horn, the horn, the lusty horn
Is not a thing to laugh to scorn.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Only the drum is confident, it thinks the world has not changed;”
—Robinson Jeffers (18871962)
“Tis not your inky brows, your black silk hair,
Your bugle eyeballs, nor your cheek of cream
That can entame my spirits to your worship.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Lamour pour lui, pour le corps humain, cest de même un intérêt extrêmement humanitaire et une puissance plus éducative que toute la pédagogie du monde!”
—Thomas Mann (18751955)
