Outline Of Object Recognition

The following outline is provided as an overview of and topical guide to object recognition:

Object recognition – in computer vision, this is the task of finding a given object in an image or video sequence. Humans recognize a multitude of objects in images with little effort, despite the fact that the image of the objects may vary somewhat in different view points, in many different sizes / scale or even when they are translated or rotated. Objects can even be recognized when they are partially obstructed from view. This task is still a challenge for computer vision systems in general.

Famous quotes containing the words outline of, outline, object and/or recognition:

The outline of the city became frantic in its effort to explain something that defied meaning. Power seemed to have outgrown its servitude and to have asserted its freedom. The cylinder had exploded, and thrown great masses of stone and steam against the sky.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

A true poem is distinguished not so much by a felicitous expression, or any thought it suggests, as by the atmosphere which surrounds it. Most have beauty of outline merely, and are striking as the form and bearing of a stranger; but true verses come toward us indistinctly, as the very breath of all friendliness, and envelop us in their spirit and fragrance.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land; it is at last to set foot on one’s own country as a foreign land.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

Admiration. Our polite recognition of another’s resemblance to ourselves.
    Ambrose Bierce (1842–1914)
