Covers

Rod Stewart covered the song on his 1998 solo album When We Were the New Boys in tribute to the recently deceased Lane.

Indie rock band Silkworm covered the song for their 2000 LP Lifestyle.

The song was covered by Counting Crows as a B-side for their 2003 single "If I Could Give All My Love (Richard Manuel Is Dead)" and re-released on their 2012 studio-album "Underwater Sunshine".

In late 2012, punk rocker Tim Armstrong, best known as frontman of Rancid, recorded a ska-flavored cover of the song under the moniker 'Tim Timebomb and Friends.' Included in the recording, and featured in the video to follow, were drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182, bassist J Bonner, and keyboardist Kevin Bivona of The Transplants.

Famous quotes containing the word covers:

It is an evil world. The fires of hatred and violence burn fiercely. Evil is powerful, the devil covers a darkened earth with his black wings. And soon the end of the world is expected. But mankind does not repent, the church struggles, and the preachers and poets warn and lament in vain.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

Boys finding for the first time their loins filled with heart’s
    blood
Widowed farmers whose hands float under light covers to find
    themselves
    Arisen at sunrise
    James Dickey (b. 1923)

Wishing to get a better view than I had yet had of the ocean, which, we are told, covers more than two thirds of the globe, but of which a man who lives a few miles inland may never see any trace, more than of another world, I made a visit to Cape Cod.... But having come so fresh to the sea, I have got but little salted.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
