On The Poverty Of Student Life

On the Poverty of Student Life: A Consideration of Its Economic, Political, Sexual, Psychological and Notably Intellectual Aspects and of a Few Ways to Cure it (French: De la misère en milieu étudiant) is a pamphlet first published by students of the University of Strasbourg and the Situationist International (SI) in 1966. Famous quotes containing the words poverty, student and/or life:

“It’s a wery remarkable circumstance, sir”, said Sam, “that poverty and oysters seems to go together.”
    Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

Adolescents have the right to be themselves. The fact that you were the belle of the ball, the captain of the lacrosse team, the president of your senior class, Phi Beta Kappa, or a political activist doesn’t mean that your teenager will be or should be the same....Likewise, the fact that you were a wallflower, uncoordinated, and a C student shouldn’t mean that you push your child to be everything you were not.
    Laurence Steinberg (20th century)

Our life is March weather, savage and serene in one hour.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
