On Stream Networks

OnStream Networks was a Santa Clara, California-based supplier of Circuit Emulation Service (CES) based Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) solutions. It was formerly T3Plus.

The company developed and manufactured ATM Multiplexers. CPE interfaces consisted of CES, Frame Relay, V.35, HSSI, Ethernet, and Optical Interfaces. ATM WAN interfaces consisted DS1/E1, IMA (N x DS1/E1), DS3/E3, and STM-1 Interfaces. Per VCC Priority Queuing, shaping and policing features were implemented. In addition there was a Bulk Traffic Shaping feature that was available.

They used the AAL1gator designed by Network Synthesis and acquired by Integrated Telecom Technology (later acquired by PMC-Sierra) to implement their CES solution.

Their office was on Octavius Drive in Santa Clara, California. Jim Mongiello was the President and CEO. Ken Koenig was the V.P. of Engineering. Mitri Halabi and John Guerrero were Engineering Directors. Randy Brumfield was a Director of Marketing. Cem Yildrim and Jim Jacobson were lead engineers.

OnStream was acquired by 3Com, also of Santa Clara, in 1996 for $254M.

Famous quotes containing the words stream and/or networks:

This pond never breaks up so soon as the others in this neighborhood, on account both of its greater depth and its having no stream passing through it to melt or wear away the ice.... It indicates better than any water hereabouts the absolute progress of the season, being least affected by transient changes of temperature. A severe cold of a few days’ duration in March may very much retard the opening of the former ponds, while the temperature of Walden increases almost uninterruptedly.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The great networks are there to prove that ideas can be canned like spaghetti. If everything ends up by tasting like everything else, is that not the evidence that it has been properly cooked?
    Frederic Raphael (b. 1931)
