- The North Campus used to be the junior high school, which became a middle school and was moved to its current area, and the high school consisted only of the current South Complex. The cafeteria was shared between the two schools, and the South Campus had its own office by the auditorium.
- The South Campus was built in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. The North Campus was built in the late 1970s. Ever since then, the school has undergone many remodeling changes in order to accommodate different types of classes, such as the three Technology Discovery classrooms on the North Campus that must accommodate 13 rather large modules.
- In the 2003–04 football season, under the leadership of veteran seniors, the Greyhounds broke a ten-year losing streak, finishing 7–4. They suffered a final defeat at the hands of Picayune Memorial High School.

- During the 2008-09 school year, Ocean Springs High School created the first public high school wrestling team in Mississippi.
- During the 2008-09 competition theater season, their competition team made it to state for the first time in five years with the show La Dispute.
- During the 2009-10 competition theater season, their competition team made it to state with the show Children of a Lesser God.
- During the 2011-12 competition theater season, their competition team made it to state with the show The Tibetan Book of the Dead.
