Aquatic Cultivation
The two most important factors in successfully growing a Red Tiger Lotus in an aquarium is plenty of light and a healthy substrate. Like other species in the Nymphaeaceae family, this special is delicate, thus it thrives in conditions of still water to gentle currents. The preferred temperate range for the Red Tiger Lotus is 70-80° Fahrenheit (21-27° Celsius), with a pH of 6.5-7.5. Once the plant takes root, it will produce off-shoots extending to the water's surface. Keeping the off-shoots trimmed will encourage bottom growth of the plant. A healthy Red Tiger Lotus can reach up to 10-15 inches (25–38 cm) in height.

Famous quotes containing the word cultivation:
“The cultivation of one set of faculties tends to the disuse of others. The loss of one faculty sharpens others; the blind are sensitive in touch. Has not the extreme cultivation of the commercial faculty permitted others as essential to national life, to be blighted by disease?”
—J. Ellen Foster (18401910)
