Nursery Crimes (band)

Nursery Crimes (band)

Nursery Crimes is a hardcore band from Melbourne. They formed in 1989 by Phil Rose, played both locally and around Australia before disbanding in 1993. They released three full length albums, some singles and an ep. Their early releases, 'All Torn up Inside', 'No Time for That Crime' (released on pink bubblegum vinyl) and Fun Hurts! album all reached #1 on the Australian independent charts. They were very early pioneers and supporters of "all-ages", no-alcohol gigs, to allow a wider and younger audience to experience live music. Nursery Crimes were a support act on Australian tours by L7, Henry Rollins, Faith No More, Fugazi and All. They toured extensively throughout their short life and played over 400 gigs by 1993 when the band collapsed following various departures of members, in fighting and a wane in popularity. They have been cited as an influence to bands such as Bodyjar, Frenzal Rhomb and many others. Nursery Crimes reunited for a series of gigs in 2006.

Famous quotes containing the words nursery and/or crimes:

    Yes, I know.
Death sits with his key in my lock.
Not one day is taken for granted.
Even nursery rhymes have put me in hock.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

The worst of crimes. All the other crimes are virtues beside it: all the other dishonors are chivalry itself by comparison. Poverty blights whole cities; spreads horrible pestilences; strikes dead the very souls of all who come within sight, sound, or smell of it.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
