Elisabeth Rasmusson assumed the position as Secretary General in January 2008, replacing Tomas Colin Archer.

Toril Brekke, NRC’s Director of the International Programme Department (IPD), will be taking up the position of Acting Secretary General of NRC 1. March 2013. Brekke has been Director of IPD for several years and has extensive international humanitarian experience.
