Norwegian Refugee Council

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC, Norwegian: Flyktninghjelpen) is an independent, humanitarian non-governmental organisation which provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees, internally displaced persons, and returnees worldwide. NRC promotes and protects the rights of people who have been forced to flee their countries, or their homes within their countries. It is the only Norwegian organisation that specialises in international efforts aimed at this target group. The majority of approximately 3000 staff members are national employees in NRC’s projects in around 20 countries in Africa, Asia, America and Europe. All projects are run from a small and efficient administration in Oslo.

Famous quotes containing the words refugee and/or council:

The refugee uncertain at the door
You make at home; deftly you steady
The drunk clambering on his undulant floor.
    John Frederick Nims (b. 1913)

Daughter to that good Earl, once President
Of England’s Council and her Treasury,
Who lived in both, unstain’d with gold or fee,
And left them both, more in himself content.

Till the sad breaking of that Parliament
Broke him, as that dishonest victory
    At Chaeronea, fatal to liberty,
Kill’d with report that old man eloquent;—
    John Milton (1608–1674)
