Competitions

North Warwickshire & Hinckley College actively promotes a competitive spirit. Last year over 90 North Warwickshire & Hinckley Students registered and competed in competitions regionally and nationally. A large proportion of those who entered were recognised and celebrated by successfully achieving certificates and medals.

In 2011, the College dedicated significant time and resources to support WorldSkills London, the largest international skills competition and careers event. It was held in October at ExCel London, where young people from 51 countries/regions were competing to be the best in their chosen skill. Principal & Chief Executive of North Warwickshire & Hinckley College Marion Plant OBE is Worldskills UK Regional Champion for the West Midlands after its membership association, UK Skills, became impressed by the College's overall success in competitions in a number of fields.

Students from North Warwickshire & Hinckley College have triumphed in the UK finals of the Worldskills competition during the Skills Show 2012 held at the NEC in Birmingham. 23 of the College’s students competed in a range of competition categories, having already succeeded at regional heats. North Warwickshire & Hinckley College students were involved in several areas of the show. The Colleges’ performing arts students performed in the LG Arena, whilst floristry students composed and presented a floral bouquet for HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne.
