No Use For A Name

No Use for a Name (sometimes abbreviated NUFAN or No Use) was a punk rock band from San Jose, California, United States formed in 1987 by Chris Dodge (guitar), Steve Papoutsis (bass), Rory Koff (drums) and John Meyer (vocals). The band's sound evolved considerably through its career, taking on a much lighter brand of melodic punk as the years passed and Tony Sly replaced Meyer on vocals in 1989. After leadman Sly's death on July 31, 2012, the remaining members chose to disband.

Famous quotes containing the words use, for and/or name:

... it is use, and use alone, which leads one of us, tolerably trained to recognize any criterion of grace or any sense of the fitness of things, to tolerate ... the styles of dress to which we are more or less conforming every day of our lives. Fifty years hence they will seem to us as uncultivated as the nose-rings of the Hottentot seem today.
    Elizabeth Stuart Phelps (1844–1911)

I N take thee M to my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, cherish, and to obey, till death us do part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I give thee my troth.
Book Of Common Prayer, The. Solemnization of Matrimony, “Betrothal,” (1662)

What is it? a learned man
Could give it a clumsy name.
Let him name it who can,
The beauty would be the same.
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)
