Other Types of Municipalities in New England
Although towns are the basic building block of the New England municipality system, several other types of municipalities also exist. Every New England state has cities. In addition, Maine also has a unique type of entity called a plantation. Beneath the town level, Connecticut has incorporated boroughs, and Vermont has incorporated villages.
