Organization and Structure

The NSS was subordinate to the Interior Ministry, and (in the closing years of the Barré regime) was headed by Abdiqasim Salad Hassan (who would later be a one-time President of Somalia under the Transitional National Government.) Conceived in the Soviet model and organized with the help of the KGB, the NSS was an elite organization whose key officers maintained close links to Barré's Supreme Revolutionary Council. The new Somalian Government has recreated the NSS from scratch. the NSS headquarter is located at the villa in the Modagadishu International Airport. the NSS has 18 branches across the country. The aim of the NSS is to protection of Somalian national security and it's interests around the world. the NSS is divided in to several sections which deal with issues of foreign affair to internal policing.

Famous quotes containing the words organization and/or structure:

To fight oppression, and to work as best we can for a sane organization of society, we do not have to abandon the state of mind of freedom. If we do that we are letting the same thuggery in by the back door that we are fighting off in front of the house.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

Man is more disposed to domination than freedom; and a structure of dominion not only gladdens the eye of the master who rears and protects it, but even its servants are uplifted by the thought that they are members of a whole, which rises high above the life and strength of single generations.
    Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt (1767–1835)
