National Hurling League 2007 - Division One Layout and Rules

Division One Layout and Rules

Each team in Division One played five rounds in their respective A and B groups. The teams that finished the five rounds in the top three positions went on to qualify for the knockout stages. The second and third team in each group went on to the quarter final against each other. The team in second position in Division 1A played the team in third position in Division 1B and the team that finished in third position in Division 1A played the team that finished in second position in Division 1B. The Quarter finals are laid out as follows:

(a) Team 2 Division 1A v Team 3 Division 1B (b) Team 3 Division 1A v Team 2 Division 1B

The winning teams from the quarter finals went on to play in the semi finals against the teams that finished the group stages in first position. The semi finals are laid out as follows:

Team 1 Roinn 1A v (a)/(b) Team 1 Roinn 1B v (a)/(b)

The winners of the semi finals contested the 2007 National Hurling League final.

When two teams finish the group stages on equal points, the final position was then determined by the scoring average between the two sides. If the teams finished on the same scoring average, the team who scored the most points for, are then selected as the leading team. If the scores are still equal, then the score between the two teams is then considered.

Famous quotes containing the words division and/or rules:

For a small child there is no division between playing and learning; between the things he or she does “just for fun” and things that are “educational.” The child learns while living and any part of living that is enjoyable is also play.
    Penelope Leach (20th century)

Under the rules of a society that cannot distinguish between profit and profiteering, between money defined as necessity and money defined as luxury, murder is occasionally obligatory and always permissible.
    Lewis H. Lapham (b. 1935)
